Green Mountain Getaway
The Green Mountain Getaway house, recipient of the 2017 AIAVT Excellence in Architecture Design Honor Award, is discreetly tucked into its wooded site in the Mad River Valley in Vermont. The house combines an array of materials ranging from natural cedar shingle, fir beams and native stone walls to exterior grade phenolic panels, concrete floors and exposed steel beams.
Colin Flavin, Principal at Flavin Architects chose MEG by ABET LAMINATI, “to make a striking contrast to the natural finished red cedar shingles on the house, and give us a sharp modern character, avoiding a rustic appearance. The graphite grey finish is both durable and visually stunning. The material was able to be custom cut on site to fit between the slope of roof rafters and the horizontal datum of painted cedar that tracked around the exterior of the house.
